On 10 July, the Working Party on Sport of the Council of the EU meets for the first time under the Irish Presidency. The Presidency is presenting its work programme for the next six months and introduces its first draft of the Council Conclusions on traditional sports and games (TSGs) as a living expression of Europe’s cultural heritage and a driver of inclusive participation. Work on these Conclusions has been informed by a survey circulated to Member States to gather their input ahead of the Presidency’s start and will further benefit from a presentation by UNESCO during the meeting. The meeting also serves as an opportunity to discuss the arrangement of a new Open Method of Coordination (OMC) Group on the “Promotion of the Benefits of Sport for Mental Health and Wellbeing and Prevention for Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Staff”.
