On 16 and 17 June, the OMC group on ‘promoting athletes rights within the context of good governance in sport’ held its fourth meeting. At the occasion, the EOC EU Office presented the SAFE HARBOUR project as a leading example of how safeguarding initiatives can advance athletes’ rights across Europe. The EOC EU Office underlined SAFE HARBOUR’s momentum, with the project now bringing together 35 sport organisations (33 NOCs and 2 IFs). The presentation focused on two flagship deliverables: the GAP Report, which identifies key areas for action in safeguarding capacity, policy development, and reporting systems, and the Stakeholders Database, which gathers key information to connect organisations and experts across Europe to facilitate cooperation and case management. By providing practical tools, evidence, and a collaborative network, SAFE HARBOUR is helping sport organisations move from commitment to action. Its work directly supports the creation of safer sporting environments for athletes and offers valuable insights for the OMC Group’s ongoing efforts to strengthen athletes’ rights through good governance.
