SAFE HARBOUR celebrates its first year of implementation

The SAFE HARBOUR project has successfully completed its first year of implementation, marked by strong cooperation, expert exchanges, and peer-to-peer dialogue across the European sport ecosystem. A key milestone was reached in December 2025 with the submission of the SAFE HARBOUR GAP Report, which provides an evidence-based assessment of safeguarding structures, procedures, and response mechanisms across Federations and European National Olympic Committees. The findings confirm both encouraging progress and persistent challenges, thereby establishing a solid foundation for the project’s next phase, focused on the co-drafting of a European Response framework, as well as the development and implementation of national strategies. The growing interest of additional European NOCs in joining the project as “observers” further reinforces its comprehensive scope and European dimension, while strengthening the European Network for Safe Sport and groundwork for the future IOC Safe Sport Hub in Europe.
