PORTUGUESE PRESIDENCY: SEMINAR ON SPORT INNOVATION

PORTUGUESE PRESIDENCY: SEMINAR ON SPORT INNOVATION

On 16-17 June, the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU held a two-day seminar on 'Sport innovation: beyond usual business'.

On this occasion, the Lisboa Call on Sport Innovation was officially launched. Seeking to exploit the sports sector to help address the challenges faced by the EU during the post-COVID-19 recovery, the Lisboa call will also support the objectives of the European Digital Strategy and the European Green Deal, by promoting cross-sectoral and innovative sport-related solutions.

All stakeholders aiming to promote sport innovation and create social impact are invited to subscribe to the Lisboa call - from the biggest sport organisation, to the local-based citizen. Already a significant number of organisations, research institutes, private companies, sports federations, and individuals - all engaged towards sport innovation - have subscribed to the Lisboa Call. Of course, the success of the movement is directly related to the 'growth in the number of subscribers over the time and to the creation of a shared identity around it'.

You can join the movement and support the call here.

Following the launch of the Lisboa Call, seven sessions took place, engaging discussions on sport innovation in the EU, its impact on the sport sector, but also on the way EU funds are contributing to sport innovation.
