OCEAN Webinar: EOC EU Office unveils OCEAN Toolbox webpage

On 26 November, the EOC EU Office held a Webinar titled “Reducing Sport Organisations’ Carbon Footprint: Understanding Our Starting Point and Getting Ready for Climate Action!”. This event showcased key project milestones to European stakeholders from the fields of sport and climate action and introduced upcoming project deliverables. Tobias Wagner (Öko-Institut) presented the Comparative analysis of the NOCs footprint assessments for 2022, highlighting NOCs primary sources of emissions. Building on these results, the NOCs are now working towards adopting carbon footprint reduction strategies, supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Julie Duffus (IOC) emphasised the pivotal role of the OCEAN Project Training Course in equipping NOCs with the knowledge and tools to effectively address climate action.

EOC EU Office presented the newly launched OCEAN Toolbox webpage, offering several key resources from the OCEAN Project to supporting sport organisations in their sustainability transition. An extensive Pool of Actions, offering over 100 measures and examples of good practices, is already accessible, providing inspiration and practical solutions for reducing environmental impact.

Other tools, including the Analysis of the 18 NOCs’ Carbon Footprint, the Pedagogical Guide for Climate Action Officers and most importantly, the OCEAN Carbon Footprint Measurement and Reduction Tool, will become available as of December 2024.
