OCEAN Prague meeting: Climate Action Officers prepare for project’s final stage

From 2 to 5 December, the OCEAN Project Consortium gathered in Prague, Czechia, for its second Project Meeting and Module 5 of the Training Course. The event brought together Climate Action Officers from 18 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to review progress, address shared challenges, and align on expectations as the project approaches its final stage. Participants received updates on key project deliverables, including the anticipated Carbon footprint measurement tool, available from December 2024 to all 206 NOCs on the OCEAN Toolbox webpage.

Module 5 of the Training Course focused on steps to take after the carbon footprint is measured. Climate Action Officers received practical guidance on establishing timelines to finalise their carbon footprint reduction strategies and developing impactful communication plans to engage diverse stakeholders, fostering their support and active participation in climate initiatives. The module further highlighted the significance of monitoring and reporting on the progress of their reduction strategies.

Looking ahead, the OCEAN Consortium will reconvene in January for its monthly Consortium call and the fourth Peer-to-Peer Roundtable. In the meantime, Climate Action Officers will focus on finalising their strategies, which are set to be completed by spring 2025.
