Joint Declaration on the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE)

A Joint Declaration on the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) was signed on March 10 by Presidents of the Parliament, the Council and the Commission – members of the Conference’s Joint Presidency.

In order for European citizens to be more involved in the European democratic process, CoFoE aims to organise citizen-focused and bottom-up exercises until 2022 to let Europeans have their say.

A multitude of Conference-events and debates on different topics (organized at European, transnational, national and regional level) should take place as of May 2021 (depending on sanitary conditions) and an interactive multilingual digital platform will be accessible.

A feedback mechanism will ensure that ideas expressed during Conference events and through the online platform result in concrete recommendations for EU action. A first report should be delivered to the Joint Presidency by Spring 2022.

Since conferences and debates are not to be directly organised and monitored by Joint Presidency institutions, we can expect sports related topics to be raised by conferences organisers, and of course, by citizens themselves.
