EU Sports Ministers propose measures for gender equality in sport and discuss European dimension of Paris 2024 Games

On 24 November, the Council of the EU approved Conclusions on women and equality in the field of sport at the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council.  EU Sports Ministers call on the European Commission and Member States to increase the proportion of women in sports leadership positions, which aligns with the GAMES project, coordinated by the EOC EU Office. Conclusions also encourage wider media coverage of women´s sports competitions and better protection against gender-based violence. Additionally, EU Sports Ministers exchanged national best practices taken to provide safe and accessible sports infrastructure and environments. Lastly, the French delegation presented their ideas to promote the European dimension of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 . A summary of the Council discussions can be found here.
