Declaration on European Sport Model

Declaration on European Sport Model

At the initiative of the French Government, 26 out of 27 Member States of the European Union have signed a declaration on the European Sport Model. Spain is the only Member State not to sign, citing ongoing proceedings related to the European Super League case. The declaration calls on sports leaders and the European Commission to strengthen solidarity and values-based sport. The Ministers recalled the importance of sporting values and the principles to which the institutions and organisations are committed, namely the principles of democracy, transparency, integrity, solidarity, gender equality, openness, accountability, accessibility, social responsibility and respect for fundamental and human rights. The signatories call on the European institutions to strengthen the European sport model in order to perennialize European sport. They specifically ask the Commission to follow up the 2021 Council Resolution on safeguarding the competitiveness, integrity, solidarity and values of sport.
