COUNCIL ADOPTS 330 billion EUR cohesion package 2021-2027

The Council approved the €330 billion cohesion legislative package on 28 May, 2021. Representing one third of the EU's seven-year budget (2021-2027), these funds aim to reduce economic disparities between member states and regions, while boosting a sustainable recovery from the pandemic by investing in green and digital priorities and funding regional and local projects.

The EOC EU Office very much welcomes the inclusion of sport in various funding programmes of the Cohesion package and its cohesion policy funds, namely, the  €200 billion dedicated to the European Regional and Development Fund (ERDF) and the €88 billion dedicated to the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).

The Parliament plenary will vote on the Council's first reading positions on the regulations by the end of June.

The EOC EU Office will work with sport stakeholders to further unlock the social potential of sport through the ESF+ and ERDF.
