On 21 June, the opening ceremony of the 3rd European Games took place in Krakow and Małopolska, Poland. The multi-sport event is organised by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and will be held from 21 to 2 July 2023, when 6,850 athletes from 48 countries will be competing in 26 sports. The 3rd edition of the European Games also reflects the first time that the event is held in an EU Member State. It is also the first time that an EOC Refugee Team made up of 4 athletes will be taking part in a continental association multi-sport event. Among the 26 sports present at the European Games, 19 disciplines of the 18 Olympic sports are using the event as qualification's pathway for Paris 2024. Thanks to an agreement signed with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the European Games Krakow- Małopolska 2023 will be available to broadcast in 50 countries across two continents whilst it is possible to follow the results live via a mobile application.
