15 NOCs and EOC EU Office launch STRONG Project on athletes’ rights and responsibilities in Brussels

On 21–22 January, representatives from fifteen National Olympic Committees (NOCs), experts from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and representatives from the International Olympic Committee gathered in Brussels for the STRONG Project Kick-off Meeting. The two-day event provided a platform for partners to align on project objectives and discuss key points, including the IOC Athletes’ Rights and Responsibilities Declaration, national implementations, and challenges. In a session focused on the athletes' perspective, Johanna Talihärm, chair of the EOC Athletes Commission, represented the athletes' voice, raising current concerns and the perspective of athletes on their access to rights and awareness of responsibilities. Furthermore, interactive sessions delved into the project's expected outcomes and facilitated fruitful discussions among participants.
