EOC PRESIDENT AT THE EUROPEAN WEEK OF SPORT OPENING

The seventh edition of the European Week of Sport is taking place from 23rd-30th September 2021. This year's theme highlights the power of physical activity to bring joy, build resilience and connect generations. Organized by the European Commission since 2015, the European Week of Sport aims to bring awareness on how important an active lifestyle is for everyone.  Regardless of who we are and what we do, even slight increases in regular, physical activity can have a profound impact on our long-term health.  The Week is designed to give people across the world a springboard into being active.

The EOC is proud to see some of its partners: European Athletics, the European Volleyball Confederation, the European Handball Federation, Rugby Europe and ENGSO being one again partners of the European Week of Sport and active in promoting it all over Europe. Moreover, EOC President and newly re-elected President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Spyros Caralos, spoke at the opening of the week.

In the scope of the European Week of Sport, the new HealthyLifestyle4All (HL4A) is being launched. It is an initiative which is designed to link sport and active lifestyles with health, food and other policies. For the occasion, the Slovenian Presidency held a seminar, organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in Bled, Slovenia. President Capralos also presented the EOC's pledge, along with other international sports representatives, in the HealthyLifestyle4All seminar to "continue improving access to sport and increase sports participation at all levels in society. Its commitment is fully aligned with the Olympic Agenda 2020+5 focus on sport as an enabler to provide all citizens with better health and well-being".
