EOC President Hickey receives unanimous support from ANOC for IOC position

EOC President Patrick Hickey has received the unanimous approval of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Executive Council to act as their representative on the IOC Executive Board for another term.

Hickey, who is Senior Vice-President at ANOC, has been on the IOC Executive Board since 2012. At August’s IOC Session ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the full IOC membership will vote on whether to re-appoint him to the role.

Patrick Hickey, who is also President of the Olympic Council of Ireland, said:
The support of my ANOC colleagues is very humbling. It has been a privilege to represent ANOC’s interests on the IOC Executive Board for the past four years and I thank the ANOC Executive Council for their unanimous decision and trust in me. The decision now rests with my colleagues in the IOC. If I have the honour of being reappointed I will continue to do everything I can to ensure that the voice of the NOCs is heard.

ANOC’s support for Hickey was given during a productive Executive Council meeting in Lausanne, during which ANOC expressed it’s “complete support" for the Rio 2016 Organising Committee.
