WEBINAR ON CARBON FOOTPRINT MEASUREMENT ORGANISED BY EOC EU OFFICE AND IOC

WEBINAR ON CARBON FOOTPRINT MEASUREMENT ORGANISED BY EOC EU OFFICE AND IOC

Taking place during the start of the EU Green Week, on 31 May the EOC EU Office, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, hosted their third webinar from the “European Olympic Movement and Climate Action” series, which focused on the topic of carbon footprint measurement.

The participants, ranging from over 40 organisations, including National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and International and European Federations, had the opportunity on hearing the most recent developments on EU level in carbon footprint measurement and witnessing testimonies from the NOC of Denmark and the International Biathlon Union, discussing the methods and challenges faced when implementing these measurement processes in their organisations.

The webinar also served as an opportunity to present the participants the recently submitted project OCEAN for funding by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme and led by the EOC EU Office. If successful, the project would accompany NOCs willing to measure – and reduce – the carbon footprint of their organisation by providing them with the right tools and by training their staff.

The next webinar from this series on the topic of sourcing and procurement and its importance in the climate reduction process, is likely to be organised at the end of this year.
