THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF THE #BEACTIVE AWARDS PRIZE COMPETITION

The European Commission has announced the opening of the call (contest) for EU prize for the #BeActive Awards 2022. Aligned with the HealthyLifeStyle4All initiative, the #BeActive is an initiative of the European Commission that rewards outstanding projects which encourage sports and physical activity across Europe.

In 2022, the #BeActive Awards includes four calls/categories:

The new #BeActive Across Generation Award category rewards targeting projects which are designed to encourage inter-generational sports and physical activities; in turn raising awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles and well-being across all generations.

#BeActive Education Award targets projects which demonstrate how education can encourage children to take part in sport/physical activity outside the school environment (i.e outdoor activities, after-school activities, active educational environments).

#BeActive Workplace Award celebrates exemplary activities in the workplace that encourage employees to #BeActive, by, for example,  setting up a staff taskforce responsible for promoting physical activity, providing showers for cycling/running commuters, holding standing meetings, organising lunchtime walks or implementing other creative solutions to form an active working environment.

#BeActive Local Hero Award credit outstanding individuals who have extensive work to promote participation in sport and/or physical activity with the aim being to motivate people in their local community/setting to be active.

The deadline for submission of proposals is 19 May 2022 at 17.00h (CEST), via the Funding and Tenders Portal to the European Commission. Unlike in the past years, when applications had to be submitted via National Coordinating Bodies or Partners of the European Week of Sport, this year any organisation, public authority or individual (natural person) which has successfully implemented a sport project aimed at promoting sport and physical activity, in the EU Member States or third countries associated to the Programme, can apply directly.
